NATA Elevates Aviation Business Environmental Priorities by Establishing Environment Committee

The National Air Transportation Association (NATA) has announced the establishment of an Environment Committee to assist the Association’s policy priorities and highlight the achievements of aviation businesses to build on efficiency gains, sustainability, and other efforts to reduce its environmental impact. The Environment Committee was first established as a subcommittee of NATA’s Airport Business Committee. This subcommittee worked on issues regarding hangar construction/design (PFAS and NFPA 409), Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), and 100 low lead  (100LL) alternatives. The move to elevate this group to a standalone committee further highlights the importance that sustainability and the environment play in the operation of aviation businesses, allowing a powerful connection between policymakers and aviation stakeholders.

The committee will address initiatives including SAF, solar power and battery storage systems, PFAS remediation, 100LL alternative fuels, FBO and aviation facility infrastructure efficiencies for aircraft operations, and aircraft noise mitigation technologies.
