Zela Aviation Collaborates with Municipality of Syros-Ermoupoli
/Zela Aviation announces its strategic collaboration with the Municipality of Syros-Ermoupoli to establish new connections to Syros Airport with international destinations and promote tourism on the island.
Through its subsidiary company and brand, Zela Jet, Zela Aviation will promote and attract more private aircraft executive and helicopter flights to the island in 2025. Zela Aviation will be taking the first of many steps to increase passenger traffic at Syros Airport in collaboration with Syros-Ermoupoli’s Deputy Mayor of Tourism, Mrs Christianna Papitsis. This cooperation is based on a targeted approach to the tour operators market, as well as direct contacts with major airlines that operate scheduled charter flights.
Syros, the jewel and capital of the Cyclades, a main focal island of the South Aegean Region, offers a perfect blend of rich cultural heritage, stunning landscapes, and authentic Greek charm. Known for its neoclassical architecture, vibrant arts scene, and crystal clear waters, Syros seamlessly combines the elegance of its capital, Ermoupoli, with the laid-back vibe of its picturesque villages. Visitors can explore historical landmarks, savor delicious local cuisine, and enjoy pristine beaches, all while experiencing the island’s welcoming atmosphere.
Syros is a year-round destination that captivates travelers seeking both relaxation and cultural enrichment in one of Greece’s most enchanting settings.
Syros Island National Airport offers convenient access to the stunning island of Syros as well as to the surrounding islands. Established in 1991, the airport covers an area of approximately 69,000 square meters and boasts a 1,080-meter-long runway, which primarily accommodates regional flights. Despite its modest size, the airport plays a crucial role in connecting Syros with Athens and other islands, with an annual passenger capacity of around 35,000. Its compact and efficient facilities ensure a smooth travel experience, making it an essential part of Syros’ tourism and economic infrastructure.
Andreas Christodoulides, Chairman of Zela Aviation, states that he is, “Delighted to support The Municipality of Syros-Ermoupoli as there are many opportunities for Syros to grow in popularity and tourism in the forthcoming years.”
