Operator Spotlight: Clay Lacy Aviation
/Air Charter Guide recently spoke with Cecilia Brazil, Charter Sales Coordinator for Clay Lacy Aviation. Founded in 1968 by an aviation legend and industry pioneer, Clay Lacy is the world’s most experienced operator of private jets. For the past 50 years, they have managed, maintained and globally operated jet aircraft from every major manufacturer. They serve business and world leaders, Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, professional athletes, sports franchises, celebrities and dignitaries.
1) How do you guide a customer through the booking process?
My goal is to make the process seamless by asking questions that will assist the client in selecting the best aircraft for their needs and preferences. Important questions aside from the trip itinerary would be: Do you have an aircraft type in mind? How much luggage will you be traveling with? Are your dates flexible at all? From there, I am able to recommend the best aircraft type and options for their mission.
2) What does the future look like for your company?
As we approach Clay Lacy Aviation’s 55-year anniversary, we are well-positioned to support the needs of our clientele across the world as we grow our fleet, team of experts across the US, and FBO services. Clay Lacy Aviation is also focused on continuing to create meaningful relationships with our charter clients and aircraft owners through exceptional service and reliability.
3) What is your number one tip for charter travelers?
Book early and provide feedback to your charter sales representative to ensure a great experience and continuous improvement in delivering exceptional service and preferences to the client, while building trust in the client-operator relationship.
4) How is Clay Lacy delivering value to customers in today’s charter market?
Clay Lacy Aviation has a large diverse fleet across the United States to accommodate the needs of all clients. Frequent travelers can enroll in Clay Lacy’s Preferred Membership program which offers discounted rates and priority booking, along with other great benefits.
5) What is a current challenge of the private jet traveler today, and what advice do you have to help them overcome this challenge?
A common complaint I hear from new clients is customer service issues with their previous vendor. I would advise clients to speak to their colleagues or friends regarding their experiences and ask for jet charter referrals.
6) What is a current challenge to charter operators today, and what is Clay Lacy and/or operators doing to overcome it?
The current challenge frequently encountered is crew availability. Clay Lacy has hired a full-time corporate recruiter, dedicated crew scheduler, and compensation analyst. The result is an innovative, robust methodology that attracts and retains the best pilots.
7) How did you get into aviation?
I began at Clay Lacy Aviation almost 17 years ago working as a Customer Service Representative at our Van Nuys FBO, and have been able to advance my career with the company’s support.
