Charter Spotlight: ACASS

Air Charter Guide recently spoke with Paul Doherty, Managing Director, ACASS Ireland, a leading provider of highly customized support services for business aviation worldwide. Since 1994, they have been empowering leaders and visionaries to own their journeys with world-class expertise and best-in-class services, including sales & acquisition, flight crew staffing, aircraft management, leasing, and charter. ACASS is headquartered in Montreal with a regional presence across the globe.

1) Charter travelers’ tips and know-how – how do you guide a customer through the process?

At ACASS, we prioritize asking the right questions to ensure we find the right aircraft for each individual trip and client. The number of passengers, luggage quantity, presence of pets, and other specific needs are all taken into account. If a client comes in with known and specific requirements, we will do everything possible to accommodate them. If they need more guidance to determine the ideal aircraft for their needs, we will give them all the help they need.

2) How would you describe your fleet or flagship aircraft?

The ACASS fleet includes superlight, heavy, and ultra-long-range aircraft, providing excellent coverage for short-haul, long-haul, domestic, and international flights. A unique feature of our charter fleet is its Irish registry, which grants travel rights for internal UK and EU flights without restriction. This enables us to offer an exceptional level of service. The variety of our fleet allows us to meet diverse client requirements, including routing preferences, passenger numbers, luggage capacity, and budget constraints.

3) What does the future look like for your company?

We anticipate significant, but carefully controlled, growth for ACASS’s charter operation in the months and years ahead. Our relatively smaller fleet in Europe allows us to offer a more personalized and attentive service. As we continue to grow, we are committed to maintaining the high standards and comprehensive service that ACASS is known for.

4) How did you get into aviation?

ACASS has been providing bespoke and highly customized business aviation services for 30 years. We started out as a flight crew staffing company in 1994 and have expanded over time to include aircraft management, sales and acquisitions, and charter services. Our loyal, repeat customers appreciate the turnkey solutions we deliver. As one of the few operators with IS-BAO Stage 3 certification and an ARGUS GOLD rating, safety remains our top priority. Our EJ-registered aircraft based in London ensure seamless travel throughout the UK and Europe.

5) What is your most popular itinerary/event/destination?

Our most popular destinations vary by aircraft type. For our Citation XLS, short internal UK flights and summer hotspots like Nice for the F1/Film festival, Ibiza, and the Greek Islands are highly favored. The Gulfstream G450 frequently flies to the East Coast USA and the Middle East. And our Global XRS services destinations outside the range of the other aircraft, including the Caribbean, South America, the West Coast USA, and the Far East.

6) What is a memorable event you’ve taken passengers to in the past?

In 2022, we flew a client and his partner on our Global XRS to get married in Las Vegas. The client was so impressed with the aircraft and personalized service that he has since become a regular customer, booking the same aircraft for both personal and business trips.

7) Share a key quote about jet travel with our readers.

ACASS’s slogan is ‘Own Your Journey,’ which captures what we believe private air travel can and should help our clients do. We strive to ensure complete satisfaction with the entire charter experiences, from aircraft type to personal preferences, like specialized catering. Our goal has always been to provide a safe, tailored service that aligns with each client’s unique requirements.
