Aviation Action Focuses on Peer Support as Job Losses Mount

Aviation Action, a new UK charity with a global reach, has been created for aviation professionals who are out of work as a result of cutbacks sparked by the Coronavirus pandemic. Their mission is to provide support, coaching, training and advice to anyone in the aviation industry who has been affected by the events of the last four months, from mental health and debt issues to family, relationships and well-being.

Founder Chris Wild (Head of Airfield Operations, Manchester Airport, UK) has garnered a blend of peer support members, each with specialist aviation expertise. Early supporters and donators include Bristol Airport, Lincs Lining Limited, British Aviation Group, Osprey Consulting Services, AIRDAT and Dedrone. More international members are coming in as the initiative gathers momentum.

Aviation Action is also launching an early career mentor scheme for school, college and university leavers to help them transition into a career in aviation, as well as supporting military personnel in the transition to civil aviation. Furthering women in aviation and the growing number of diversity groups is also a key wish.

The charity is currently running an industry-wide research survey, ‘State of the Industry - 2020 and Beyond,’ to enable the group to focus their support to where it is needed most. They are actively encouraging people to fill out the survey to contribute to their research – details can be found via their LinkedIn company page.

Donations can be made through the website www.aviationaction.org, the charity’s JustGiving page, or through purchasing promotional charms – details of which can all be found on the website.
