NBAA Welcomes Key Aviation-Focused Provisions in House Infrastructure Bill
/The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) welcomes passage of legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives that includes priorities for the association and the nation’s business aviation industry.
House Resolution 2 (H.R.2) is a major infrastructure bill that contains legislative provisions important to business aviation and championed by NBAA, specifically:
- An NBAA-supported amendment authorizing the Department of Transportation to develop an innovative digital, broadcast and print media campaign to attract a new, diverse and inclusive generation of workers throughout the nation’s transportation sector, including with the aviation industry. - Increased funding for FAA’s Airport Improvement Program by providing $4 billion in annual funding, plus an additional $3 billion in grant funding in 2021 and progressively increasing that amount to $4 billion in 2025.
- Support for “innovative financing techniques” to reduce costs to communities from infrastructure improvements at smaller airports with commercial airline operations, many of which are also utilized by business aviation operators.
- Funding for the study and development of renewable aviation fuels, including the establishment of programs and competitive initiatives to drive development of low-emission technologies across the nation’s aviation sector. The bill includes $30 million a year through 2025 for this initiative.
