NATA Names Jonathon Freye Vice President of Government and Public Affairs
/The National Air Transportation Association (NATA) is pleased to announce that Jonathon Freye has been named as the Association’s Vice President of Government and Public Affairs. Freye will lead NATA’s advocacy in Washington, D.C. and will manage the Association’s external and media relations.
“Jonathon brings to NATA both an insider perspective on the policymaking process and a technical understanding of the air transportation industry,” said NATA President Gary Dempsey. “Jonathon’s experience as a strategic communicator will enable the Association to advance policy goals that support the business interests of our members.”
Freye most recently served as Senior Policy Advisor to Congressman Dan Lipinski (IL-03), a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure’s aviation subcommittee. Prior to working for Rep. Lipinski, he was the Federal Government Affairs Representative for the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority. He also spent a year as a legislative fellow in the office of Senator Maria Cantwell, then-Chair of the Senate aviation subcommittee.
Freye began his career as a flight instructor at his alma mater, Western Michigan University, and served at the appointment of Governor Jennifer Granholm as a Michigan Aeronautics Commissioner. He holds a commercial pilot’s license (ASEL/AMEL), is a certified flight instructor (CFI/CFII/AGI) and also holds a merchant mariner’s credential.
