Position Summary: 

The Facility Assistant will assist the Building Maintenance Manager in all assigned duties to maintain the preserve the upkeep of all facilities of Meridian. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following

  • Facility and grounds up-keep 
  • Light Carpentry, plumbing, and electrical 
  • Cleaning hangar floor
  • Painting
  • Snow and ice removal
  • Trash removal
  • Routine building and appliance repairs
  • Operate powered equipment and vehicles
  • Assist with ongoing maintenance and renovation project

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Able to work flexible hours (Sat/Sun)
  • Be on-call and available during inclement weather
  • Available for off-hour work and emergencies
  • Clearly communicate and listen to fellow employees and management
  • Exhibit professional demeanor towards others and serve and assist staff and customers in an unselfish servicing manor
  • Self-motivated, well organized and able to prioritize tasks.
  • Team player
  • Able to adjust positively to change in direction or assignment
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimal.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Basic computer skills needed; typing and word processing

 Certificates and Licenses Recommended:

  • Clean, valid, current driver’s license

 Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles.  The employee is occasionally exposed to work on roofs, in precarious places, near moving mechanical parts and outdoor weather conditions, toxic and/or caustic chemicals and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.  The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.  The employee is frequently required to stand, walk and sit.  The employee is occasionally required to use the hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms: climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.  Specific vision capabilities required by the position include: close vision, distance vision and color vision.  The employee is expected to be able to reform their duties at all hours of the day or night
