On October 21, 2010, under the patronage of Bavaria´s Minister for Internal Affairs, Joachim Herrmann, FAI and guests celebrated the topping out of the new FAI Hangar, which will be ready for occupation by end of March 2011.
FAI-Group Chairman Siegfried Axtmann pointed out within his speech that the Euro 10 million investment into the hangar and office building was another milestone in FAI´s successful company history, which started already 1987.
The project includes 2,500 square meters of hangar space, 1,500 square meters of workshops and storage plus more than 2,000 square meters of office space. With the completion of the building, FAI will be able to independently perform maintenance on its wide body and heavy jets, such as the Global Express, Falcon 900, CRJ 200 and Challenger 604. The current hangar size is limited to maintain only Learjets, while the other maintenance has to be outsourced to third parties even though FAI's EASA Part 145-organization is already certified to perform maintenance on these heavy types.
FAI's current fleet consists of 18 Jets, including two Learjets 35A, seven Learjets 55, four Learjets 60, two Challenger 604, one Falcon 900 and one Global Express. One of FAI's Challenger 604 is leased to Swiss Nomad Aviation.
