Jul 14, 2010 12:26 PM
Shearwater Air, a private aircraft charter and aircraft management company based in Monterey, Calif., has received Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 135 certification for
domestic and international jet charter operations.
The company has been managing jet aircraft since 1996 as a Part 91 certified operator and will continue to provide a complete package of aircraft management services to other aircraft owners. As an aircraft owner with the Part 135 certification, Shearwater Air can now provide air charter services to anywhere clients wish to travel, in addition to aircraft management services.
Management services may include all aircraft maintenance and safety practices, flight scheduling and tracking, hiring and training of personnel and a benefits package to employees. This addition of the Part 135 certification, enables Shearwater Air to offer a complete charter management package. This ensures clients that the company policies and procedures represent the highest standard in operating practices and safety.
Unlike many charter operators, Shearwater Air will only fly aircraft under its management and only use pilots who are employees of the company.
“We are elated to receive our Part 135 certification as it represents a successful and lengthy team effort on the part of all Shearwater Air associates,” Shearwater Air Director of Operations, David Hamilton, said upon receiving the approval from the FAA. “As Shearwater Air meets and even exceeds strict FAA requirements, our compliance with commercial standards assures our private clients that the best operation and safety practices are met.”
In addition, Hamilton said the company's personnel recognized the importance of providing an experience that was unmatched in quality and service. "The private air charter business is based on personal service and the ability to meet each and every client’s unique needs efficiently and professionally,” he said.
The Shearwater Air team cites the benefits of private air charter travel and sees significant opportunity for the company in this segment of the travel market, both corporate and leisure. Private air charter offers the ability to fly at any time of the day or night from hundreds of airports not served by commercial airlines. The business traveler can visit multiple locations in a single day, keep a flexible itinerary and arrive at a destination prepared and rested. Clients can depart minutes after arriving at the airport. On‐time departures and arrivals can be expected. In addition, Shearwater Air offers upscale in‐flight cuisine to suit any specific dietary need. Baggage arrives with the aircraft and families frequently travel with their pets.
Shearwater Air consists of industry veterans who take pride in exemplary safety and operations records. They have been assisting aircraft owners who enjoy the convenience and comfort of on-demand travel but do not want to personally handle the numerous operational details required. Shearwater Air management also insures advantageous pricing for fuel, insurance and related costs. Shearwater Air executives see their aviation business poised for continued growth.
