Inauguration of the Private Corporate Aviation Terminal in Barcelona, Spain

Last December, Maria Encarnación Vivanco, President of AENA (Spanish Airports), organized the inauguration of the new corporate terminal in Barcelona airport. There was significant representation from the Catalan business and finance sector attending the event.

The business aviation company Executive Airlines, which was awarded one of the licenses, worked closely with AENA to organize the event, inviting customers and other partners to accompany them on a tour around the new installations.

Executive Airlines received a license to manage one FBO, which has 321 m˛ of floor space, 112 m˛ of which is assigned to its handling agent Euraservices. The rest of the space is used for VIP lounges, crew rest areas and offices for operational personnel at Executive Airlines. In addition to operating with their own aircraft, the company offers services to other operators.

The new private aviation terminal, located in the new Airport Services Park, has a surface area of 1,500 m˛, 640 m˛ of which corresponds to the FBO licenses, while the remainder is distributed between AENA, passenger control and the State security forces.

Furthermore, the new terminal has its own access points through the Airport Services Park, and is therefore separated from the main public areas of the Airport. This makes the journeys easier and faster. The new corporate aviation platform can cater for 30 jets (spaces), doubling previous capacity.

AENA has invested 4.8 million Euros in the development of the new corporate aviation terminal. Even though the building has been in use since March 2008, work has been carried out until last December to adapt the interior spaces according to the project approved by AENA.

Platform movement information
Corporate aviation in Spain has experienced strong growth in recent years. The increase in the number of operations carried out in the El Prat airport illustrates this trend. According to AENA sources, while the El Prat airport registered 1,714 platform movements in 2001, 2008 saw this figure increase to a total of 2,746.

Executive Airlines manages 10 new jets in 2008
In 2008, Executive Airlines increased its fleet from 12 to 22 jets. Eight of the 10 new jets are manufactured by the American company Gulfstream, making Executive Airlines the European operator with the greatest number of Gulfstream jets in its fleet.

At present, the Executive Airlines fleet consists of 22 jets, 15 of which are Gulfstream.

Gulfstream G 200 (7)
Gulfstream G 150 (3)
Learjet 45 (1) Citation

The company's operations are focused on the long-range and the ultra long-range jet segment.

Additions to the fleet will continue to be made in 2009, as two G200 jets will be incorporated in the first half of this year (in March and April) and negotiations for further new additions are currently being held.

In addition, due to the increase in demand for charter services, the sales offices (originally located in the Executive Airlines terminal in the Torrejón civilian airfield) have been transferred to the city centre of Torrejón. The new sales office is bigger and better equipped, thus allowing Executive Airlines to provide even better quality service to its customers.
