Don't Mess With Jim

James Polehinke, the sole survivor and co-pilot of Comair Flight 5191 that crashed on August 27, 2006 at Blue Grass Airport in Kentucky, is suing AVCON, the designer of the runway and taxiway lights.

49 people perished in the pre-dawn crash, after the aircraft took off from an unlit general aviation strip too small for the large, commercial jet.  According to airport officials and federal investigators, the edge lights of the runway were working the morning of the crash.  Several aircraft had departed safely prior to the crash.

It was decided last month by The National Transportation Safety Board that the pilots were primarily responsible for the crash, having failed to notice that they had turned onto the wrong runway.
