CBAA Special Bulletin - Can You Help?

Toronto to Vancouver: Nov. 14, 15, 16 or 17th

In early October we made a special request on behalf of Hope Air and, thanks to the generosity of London Air/London Drugs, we were able to assist a little girl get to vital medical surgery. One month later, we can report that she came through the surgery at Sick Kids Toronto very well and is now back in hospital care in BC and close to her family. Business aviation making a real difference!

We have another special situation and now pass it on to our members on behalf of Hope Air. As you know, Hope Air is CBAA’s designated charity and I sit on Hope Air’s Board of Directors.

A 12-year-old boy battling cancer needs to get to Vancouver for a bone marrow transplant and specialist care. He has his first appointment at BC Children’s Hospital on Monday, November 17th (afternoon). Due to an immune system deficiency brought on as a result of the lengthy chemo treatments the child has already gone through, there is a high risk of infection when he flies commercial. Therefore if he can “hitch a ride” on a corporate jet, he will arrive in Vancouver in a much better condition for his vital surgery and subsequent treatments.

The Hope Air need is for 3 seats on a private jet for the child, his Mum and a nurse companion to fly Toronto to Vancouver on November 14, 15, 16 or latest the morning of the 17th. The boy is fully ambulatory but does require oxygen onboard which they will supply.

If you are able to assist, contact Doug Keller-Hobson – the Executive Director of Hope Air at dkeller-hobson@hopeair.org or by phone at 416-222-6335 ext. 228.
