ProJet Aviation, the Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association (AOPA) and new corporate sponsor, FlightSafety International, announced today that the 4th Annual “Aviation Education Expo” has been awarded a grant from the 2009 Alfred L. and Constance C. Wolf Fund Grant. The grant was established to provide funding to the most promising individuals and worthy projects which advance the field of general aviation.
The Aviation Education Expo was created in 2005 to inspire young adults, ages 16-20, by showcasing a wide variety of aviation and aerospace career opportunities. Students attending the Expo interact with aviation professionals through booth exhibits, displays, simulators and guest-speaker forums. ProJet Aviation will host the 4th annual Expo on October 13, 2009, at its Corporate Aviation Facility located at Winchester Regional Airport in Virginia.
“This is an honor and a privilege,” said Julie O’Brien, Director of Marketing for ProJet Aviation. “This event plants the seed of opportunity that has such a positive impact on the attendees and our industry.”
Participants at the Expo have the opportunity to interact with vendors representing diverse and exciting aviation and aerospace careers including emergency medical airlift; law enforcement; aircraft maintenance and avionics repair; and US military and national security assignments, among others.
“We rely completely on corporate funds and donations to make this day happen,” said ProJet’s CEO Shye Gilad. “In tough economic times it is especially important for individuals and corporations to invest in America’s future, and we are very grateful to have the support of the Alfred L. and Constance C. Wolf Fund Grant.”
Grants such as the Wolf Aviation Fund help ProJet and co-sponsors AOPA and FlightSafety reach the goal of expanding the Expo to include as many students and aviation professionals as possible. FlightSafety International was started in 1951, by Mr. A.L. Ueltschi, who flew for Pan American Airlines. Mr. Ueltschi saw the benefit of constant training and education along with the use of simulators to train in situations too difficult or dangerous to replicate in real aircraft. The goal of FlightSafety is to increase aviation professionals' aircraft-specific systems knowledge and pilot proficiency. FlightSafety International has 40 learning centers and more than 230 simulators around the world.
