ARGUS Releases October Business Aircraft Activity

ARGUS TRAQPak data is serial-number specific aircraft arrival and departure information on all IFR flights in the US (including Alaska and Hawaii). The information below reflects business aircraft activity data for October 1-31, 2010 versus September 1-30, 2010, and October 1-31, 2010 versus October 1-31, 2009 respectively. Note: Part 135 charter certificate flight activity reflects flights of aircraft on Part 135 charter certificates irrespective of the mission type.
Aircraft activity rebounds in October.
TRAQPak data indicates October business aircraft activity was up 10.4% over the previous month. Looking at market categories, increases were seen across the board with the fractional segment showing the greatest rise, up 13.1%, Part 135 charter activity was up 11.3% and Part 91 corporate increased 9.2% over September. Reviewing aircraft categories, all were up from the previous month (led by large cabin aircraft, which were up 14.7% from the previous month). The mid-size cabin market saw an increase of 11.8%, and the small cabin market saw an increase of 10.0% from September. The individual market segment with the greatest increase over September 2010 was the large cabin fractional group at 27.4%.

Comparing year over year results (October 2010 vs. October 2009) aircraft activity was up only slightly at 0.6%. Looking at operational categories, the fractional industry had an increase of 1.8%, while the Part 91 corporate market and Part 135 markets increased 0.5% and 0.1% respectively. Reviewing aircraft category results the mid size cabin jet market segment was up 5.6%, and small cabin jets increased 1.2% over October 2009. Looking at individual market segments, the mid cabin Part 135 sector saw the largest increase, up 13.1% from the same period last year.

Mid-size Jets (MJ) and Super Mid-size Jets (SMJ) - Jet aircraft with maximum takeoff weight of over 20,000 to 41,000 lbs.
Large Cabin Jet
Large Jets, Ultra-Long Range and Heavy Jets – Jet aircraft with maximum takeoff weight of over 41,000 lbs. For weight over 41,000 lbs and Ultra-Long Range and Heavy Jets having an NBAA IFR Range above 6,000NM.
