ARGUS Releases May Business Aircraft ActivityARGUS TRAQPak data is serial-number specific aircraft arrival and departure information on all IFR flights in the U.S. (including Alaska and Hawaii). The tables reflect business aircraft activity data for May 1-31, 2011, versus April 1-30, 2011, and May 1-31, 2011, versus May 1-31, 2010n respectively. Note: Part 135 charter certificate flight activity reflects flights of aircraft on Part 135 charter certificates irrespective of the mission type. Positive results for business aircraft activity (May 2011 over April 2011). TRAQPak data indicates that May 2011 business aircraft activity was up 3.6% over April 2011. Looking at the results for operational categories, all segments posted a positive month with Part 91 leading the way, up 5.5%. Part 135 charter activity came in second, up 2.0%, and the fractional market showed a slight increase of 0.1%. Reviewing aircraft categories, all posted an increase over April with turbo props providing the highest increase up 5.4%. Mid-size cabin aircraft followed with an increase of 2.7%, small cabin aircraft flights were up 2.5%, and large cabin aircraft showed a modest gain, up 1.8%. Looking at individual market segments, the Part 91 mid-size cabin market showed the largest month over month increase, up 6.5%.
Comparing year over year results (May 2011 vs. May 2010) aircraft activity increased overall by 2.7%. The Part 91 and fractional markets both saw activity levels increase at 6.7% and 7.9% respectively. The Part 135 market continues to post a decline in activity compared to last year, down 5.8%. Aircraft category results were mostly positive, with large cabin leading the way, up 10.5%. The mid-size and small cabin segments followed with increases of 5.3% and 4.2% accordingly. Looking at individual market segments, the fractional, large cabin segment saw the largest gain with a substantial increase of 20.0%; the Part 135 turbo prop segment had the largest decline in flights, down 10.1% year over year.
