ARGUS Releases June Business Aircraft Activity

ARGUS TRAQPak data is serial-number specific aircraft arrival and departure information on all IFR flights in the US (including Alaska and Hawaii). The tables below reflect business aircraft activity data for June 1-30, 2010, versus May 1-31, 2010, and June 1-30, 2010 versus June 1-30, 2009 respectively. Note: Part 135 charter certificate flight activity reflects flights of aircraft on Part 135 charter certificates irrespective of the mission type.
Business aircraft flight operations increased 1.2% month over month. TRAQPak data indicates June business aircraft activity was up 1.2% over May 2010. By aircraft type, the turbo prop segment led with a 5.4% increase over May. By type of operation, the Part 91 market was the only sector in the black showing growth of 2.8%. Looking at individual market segments the turbo prop aircraft led the field with the fractional turbo prop segment rising an impressive 10.4%, the Part 91 turbo prop sector increased 5.7%, and the Part 135 turbo prop activity rose 3.7%. Small cabin jets also fared well in June showing a 4% increase over May.
Looking at the year over year results (June 2010 vs. June 2009) activity was up 4.9% overall, with all operational category sectors showing positive growth. The fractional market had the strongest increase at 6.7%. Looking at aircraft category results the mid size cabin jet market segment showed the biggest increase at 10%, with small cabin aircraft also showing growth up 5.8% year over year. Reviewing individual market segments, two areas had double-digit increases over June 2009, Part 135 charter mid cabin aircraft and the fractional turbo props at 18.9% and 15.6% respectively.

Mid Size Cabin Jet
Mid-size Jets (MJ) and Super Mid-size Jets (SMJ) - Jet aircraft with maximum takeoff weight of over 20,000 to 41,000 lbs.
Large Cabin Jet
Large Jets, Ultra-Long Range and Heavy Jets – Jet aircraft with maximum takeoff weight of over 41,000 lbs. For weight over 41,000 lbs and Ultra-Long Range and Heavy Jets having an NBAA IFR Range above 6,000NM.
