SaxonAir Announces Norwich Airport Development

SaxonAir, an aviation firm that is enjoying significant growth has announced that it is to construct a £1 million business aviation centre and hangar at Norwich Airport.

SaxonAir have expanded rapidly in the last 18 months from what was a two-aircraft fleet to a considerably larger charter operation. They are expected to take delivery of a brand new $3 million aircraft that should arrive in 2009 or 2010 which is dependant on orders received by the manafacturers Embraer. SaxonAir are also popular with celebrities as the Norwich Airport site states that both Blondie and Meat Loaf have used the operators recently.

The brand new aviation centre is to be a luxurious experience for those using its first class facilities which will be available for both passengers and crew.

SaxonAir operations director Chris Mace spoke about the expansion of SaxonAir saying:

"The extra delays and inconvenience of regular airline flying nowadays means private charters are on the increase. More people have moved to Norfolk or have holiday homes here, and people value their time much more, for business and leisure. We take security seriously and nothing can be safer than sitting on the aircraft with only family, friends or work colleagues around you."

The managing director of Norwich Airport Richard Jenner also commented on the announcement:

"All these extra flights are good for us, as they help generate extra income, creating more jobs and turnover for the airport — and bringing in business to this region. We see the executive jet and business aviation market as one which is set to grow over coming years, particularly with the 2012 Olympics in mind. There is an opportunity to grow this type of service in Norwich because of the congestion at London facilities."
