The Ohio State University Airport (KOSU); Ohio’s Full-Service Corporate AirportAviation began at Ohio State in 1914, when the U.S. War Department selected the University as one of only six in the nation to train Army Air Corps cadets. After having its first airfield closed to make way for the construction of Ohio Stadium for football, and the use of several neighboring airstrips, the OSU School of Aviation finally got a permanent home in 1943 with the construction of the OSU Airport. Today, the airport is home to many corporate flight departments of Columbus, Ohio and public service aviation divisions, including; the Ohio Department of Transportation/Highway Patrol and MedFlight. The airport continues to operate the university’s flight school and the FBO that services general aviation aircraft in and out of the Columbus, Ohio area.
