Airborne Aviation Services Opens New FBO at Stewart International
Airborne Inc, a full service aviation company has opened a Fixed Base Operation at Stewart International Airport (SWF). The newly formed subsidiary - Airborne Aviation Services - was created specifically to provide executive level FBO services at the airport.
According to Airborne Inc.’s CEO, John Dow, Stewart was a logical choice for Airborne to re-enter the FBO business. “There were several compelling reasons for the choice including compatibility with our current business operations in charter, management, maintenance and ground support. The location in Newburgh has always been of interest due to its proximity to NYC and the airport infrastructure that has been developed by the Port Authority of NY & NJ.”
Jeff Madtes, president of Airborne’s charter and management subsidiary, FirstFlight, will also fill the role of president for the new FBO. Madtes commented, “The new operation is a great fit with our existing operations and we can draw upon some of the talent within the Company to launch this new business. We have an experienced team in place to run the operation and attract new clients. In particular, Millie H.Becker, our Chief Development Officer, is well-known in the industry for the role she has played in the development of FBO’s in Teterboro and White Plains. In addition, Mark Ladendorff who has had experience operating an FBO at SWF will be responsible for Operations at the facility.”
Initially, the FBO will be located in the facilities at the intersection of runway 9/27 and 16/34 as plans for future development of a hangar get underway. Airborne Aviation Services will be a branded AVFUEL dealer and offer full ground handling, ramp and deicing capabilities.
